Blackburn Conservatives are delighted to announce that Imtiaz Ali has rejoined the Conservative Party and been selected as our candidate to contest the Billinge & Beardwood ward at the 2020 local elections.
Imtiaz, pictured above with our PPC Claire Gill, is a former hard-working and respected councillor for the ward who sadly lost his seat after boundary changes, but he is confident of prevailing in what is likely to be a close contest.
He has been chosen to replace our outgoing representative for the ward, Councillor Julie Daley, who has chosen to stand down at the end of her term and will be sorely missed by residents of the ward.
Blackburn Conservative Association Chairman Julian Arnold said "I am delighted that Imtiaz has seen the great strides we have made under my stewardship and has chosen to return to the Party he loves".
Imtiaz said "Now I look forward to serving the entirety of Billinge and Beardwood ward as we all try to make Blackburn a fairer and more inclusive place to live and work. One of my ambitions for the town is to continue to grow the college campus because the key to the town's future is to enhance its intellectual base to build a new prosperity in the town".
