Sunny Bower residents have purchased a CCTV camera to combat persistent fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour in a layby off Whalley Old Road.
The layby has become a source of irritation for residents with rubbish reappearing soon after it is cleaned up and people using it to smoke drugs. The residents hope that they will be able to put a stop to the problem behaviour by installing a CCTV camera covering the problem area.
Iain Sykes, the Conservative candidate for Little Harwood & Whitebirk, purchased the camera on behalf of the Sunny Bower Community Group that he Chairs. Iain said "The problem is very persistent. It became clear that a more proactive approach was needed than simply clearing the rubbish away once it was reported. We've decided we needed to take matters into our own hands to put a stop to it. Hopefully the Council will work with us and our camera to resolve the issue."
