Residents Reassured Over Public Open Space

Public Open Space Clearance Work

The Council has reassured residents on Old Gates Drive that a plot of Public Open Space will be returned to its original state once maintenance works on a culvert are completed.

Concerns were raised when the Council began clearing bushes on the Public Open Space last week. Council actions had previously caused unrest when they tried to sell the land as part of a proposed housing scheme, a move which caused residents to contest its legality and ultimately cause the planning application to be postponed.

Cllr Derek Hardman complained to the Council and has now received the reassurances.

It is to be hoped that the Council is true to its word and that this is not an attempt to repurpose the land by the back door.
