Poppies are displayed across Livesey and Feniscowles once again as the community prepares to mark Remembrance Day.

The Conservative controlled Livesey Parish Council with hands on support from Blackburn Conservative Councillor Paul Marrow has continued its annual tradition of installing poppies throughout the parish to honour members of the Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The displays, which have become a familiar sight in recent years, are appearing on lampposts and around the parish ahead of Remembrance commemorations in November.

Parish council chair Rick Moore said: "We decided three years ago to put up a display throughout the parish to honour the fallen.

"We were pleasantly surprised how much our community embraced the idea and have positively supported us as we put them up.

"This year has been a little more challenging with the storms blowing through; however, we managed most of it over the weekend."

Residents will also have the opportunity to pay their respects at a memorial service organised by Livesey Sports and Social Club.

Pupils from Park Farm Junior School are due to attend the service, which will be held at 11am on November 11 at the memorial in Livesey Branch Road.

Councillor Les Cade said the displays were intended to remember those who had lost their lives in service.

He said: "As Rick mentioned, we are pleased the community appreciate the poppies, but let's remember it's to commemorate the fallen, so please wear your poppy with pride."
